Update 17: switching, favorites and bindings
The official note lists R on keyboard and B on gamepad for switching between an equipped weapon and a spell. PC number keys 1–8 are now hotkeys. The quick-options wheel selects favorited weapons, rather than the equipped-weapon list; tapping the relevant control toggles sheathing.
Autorun is listed as Q on keyboard. There is no default gamepad autorun binding in the note, but one can be assigned. The previous equip system remains an option at the bottom of Gameplay settings. These are patch-note defaults, not a guarantee about a remapped layout or every Steam Input profile.
Favorite is not the same as equipped
The wheel’s weapon list now follows favorites. If the weapon you expect is absent, inspect your favorites before treating the wheel as broken. Being equipped and being favorited describe different states in this update.
The note says tapping the relevant control toggles sheathing. It does not document every tap/hold interaction on every device. Keep the in-game binding screen and your Steam Input profile in view when comparing behavior; do not silently substitute a reported button for the official default.
A cautious setup check
Start by noting whether you are using the new or legacy equip system. Record the selected weapon, spell, favorite list and custom bindings. Test switching and sheathing separately before assigning a larger quick-slot layout.
If the new system does not fit your controls, the official fallback is the legacy equip option at the bottom of Gameplay settings. This is a supported setting, not a promise that it fixes an unrelated controller or save problem.
