Update 17: combat and progression changed
Enemies were made more accurate and retuned to compensate. The patch also rebalanced the contribution of Armor skill and the attributes awarded per skill level. HP is no longer awarded simply for gaining a character level. An older build recommendation may therefore feel different even when its named perks still exist.
Armor damage reduction is capped at 85%. That is not an armor-rating target, and the note does not establish the rating formula, best equipment combination or a damage-per-second ranking. Test the encounter and displayed stats on your own build before committing to older assumptions.
Official weapon-handling fixes
The developer reports a stable camera during first-person bow shots, consistent spear/two-handed behavior while sprinting or blocking, and shields appearing correctly in the hands. These are specific handling fixes; they do not supply new weapon damage values.
Rolling is described as removed for now in the announcement. Treat that as an intentional patch-note change, not an automatic bug diagnosis. Reports of continued rolling or alternate behavior need a current build, input profile and reproducible test.
Retest a build without inventing a combat formula
Compare the same encounter, equipment and difficulty before drawing conclusions about survivability. Record misses, blocking and the displayed armor value separately; a more accurate enemy can change the outcome without proving a particular damage multiplier.
The current build guides are planning paths, not benchmarked tier lists. No DPS, hidden accuracy equation, defensive breakpoint or best-in-slot claim is supported by this patch note.
Next steps and evidence
This guide summarizes the official announcement, not a completed in-game test. Use the source cards to inspect the developer’s wording and keep your own tested build attached to any conflicting observation.
