Frequently Asked Questions
These answers cover only what current first-party material supports. Questions about party size, price, character creation, Steam Deck, consoles and VR remain outside the archive until a current source or the release build settles them.
When does The Lantern of the Laughless Saint release?
The English Steam listing schedules the game to enter Early Access on August 17, 2026. At this guide's August 17 check, Steam still said the game was not yet available; SteamDB had recorded the same date when separately checked on August 10.
Is The Lantern of the Laughless Saint launching in Early Access?
Yes, but it was not available yet at the August 17 source check. Steam still labeled the game as coming soon to Early Access. NerveLabs plans for that period to last less than one year, although development timing can change.
Is it single-player?
Yes. The Steam listing includes single-player, and NerveLabs describes the current Early Access version as supporting both single-player and multiplayer across its open-world campaign.
Does it have co-op?
Yes. Steam lists Online Co-op, Shared/Split Screen Co-op, Shared/Split Screen and Remote Play Together, and NerveLabs says the full game is playable cooperatively. Exact host, save, party-size and progression rules still need release-build testing.
How many quests are in the Early Access build?
NerveLabs currently describes the planned Early Access build as containing 50+ quests. Most quests are said to support multiple resolutions rather than one required solution.
Does it have spell crafting?
Yes. The official Early Access statement describes spell crafting as fully featured in the current build and says the system is expected to be expanded further for full release.
Does it have alchemy?
Yes. Alchemy is described as fully featured in the planned Early Access build. NerveLabs also names it as an existing mechanic that should be fleshed out on the road to full release.
How long is the game expected to be?
NerveLabs projects that a completionist playthrough without consulting guides will take an average player upwards of 30–40 hours. This is a developer estimate, not an independent benchmark.
Is mod support planned?
Yes, but only as a future feature. NerveLabs says mod support is planned; the current statement does not make it an available Early Access launch feature or provide a launch date for it.
What platforms and languages are confirmed?
Windows PC through Steam is the confirmed platform. The current store listing records English for the interface, full audio and subtitles; this guide does not infer other platforms.
Is it inspired by Morrowind?
Yes. The official short description calls it a solo or co-op RPG inspired by Morrowind. That describes a creative influence, not a promise that every progression or world system works identically.
